Police Department Community Alert - Craigslist Ad Robbery 

DARIEN POLICE DEPARTMENT - COMMUNITY ALERT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 
 
The victim placed a Craigslist Ad to sell a diamond bracelet. She was contacted by a female where after much discussion an arrangement was made to meet at Lord of Life Lutheran Church on 75th Street on Friday April 14, 2017. The meeting occurred in the parking lot at about 5:50 PM, while church services were in progress. When the victim arrived, the same female that she previously spoke with was present as well as a male black subject. The female asked to see the bracelet so she could show the male. When the victim showed the bracelet to the female the male grabbed it and both subjects ran off on foot.
 
The female offender is described as an white in her early twenties with brown or reddish hair in a bun, approx. 5'4", thin build, wearing a white/blue striped shirt and blue jeans.
 
The male offender is described as early twenties light skinned male black, approx 5'4", thin build, wearing a gray sweatshirt and dark colored pants.
 
The victim was not hurt in this incident.

The Darien Police Department would also like to suggest when these types of sales are conducted:
  • Do not be alone.
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • Obtain as much information as you can on the person involved in the transaction.
  • The Police Department is always a good option as a transaction location.
  • Last but not least, if something does not feel right, it probably isn't, trust your instincts.
