On behalf of Mayor Joe Marchese and the City Council, the City of Darien is bringing back the Building Permit Holiday for the below-mentioned permits. This is to encourage home improvements and provide a financial incentive for residents planning construction or renovation projects. Similar permit fee waiver programs were successfully implemented in 2011, 2013, and 2014.
Take advantage of the City of Darien waived permit fees specific to the following projects between March 5, 2026 thru April 30, 2027:
- Driveways
- Fence (NO INSPECTIONS)
- Patio (Concrete/Brick paver)
- Private sidewalk/Service walk
- Roof (NO INSPECTIONS)
- Parking lots
Under the proposed program, the City would waive these building permit fees for residential and commercial property owners. Direct out-of-pocket expenses associated with the permit processing, such as Plan Review fee and other third-party costs, would not be waived.
