The City of Darien has updated its rules regarding commercial and large vehicles parked on private property. Property owners currently not in compliance have until March 2, 2027 to bring their property into conformance with the new rules.

What's Prohibited

  • Semitractors, semitrailers, and Class 3+ vehicles over 10,000 lbs. may not be parked or stored on private property.
  • Farm and earth-moving equipment (bobcats, bulldozers, road graders, tractors, cranes, brush chippers, and similar machinery) may not be stored on private property.
  • Tow trucks, wreckers, flatbeds, and vehicle carriers may not be parked on private property except while actively loading or unloading.
  • No more than two commercial vehicles may be stored outdoors overnight on any residential lot.
