The City of Darien is soliciting for competitive quotes for Ditch Maintenance Restoration. The goal is to maintain positive sheet flow of storm water through open ditches.
The vendor shall have the ability to set flow grades from 1.5 to 2.5 %. The scope of work will be determined by the Superintendent. The work areas will consist of identified areas ranging from 10-150 feet long by 5 to 20 feet in width. The work will further include adjusting storm inlets and 12x12 garden inlets located in the right of way. Adjustments will consist of removing/adding concrete adjusting rings ranging from 1-6 inches and replacing/adjusting 12x12 inlets/grates to grade. The scope of work includes:
Mechanical Grading - depths of up to 6 inches
Mechanical Rototilling - depths of up to 4 inches
Grading of topsoil - depths of 3 to 6 inches
Sod Preparation & Starter Fertilizer - adding up to two inches of top soil & suppling sod & starter fertilizer -10-10-10 fertilizer
Seed & Straw Mat & Starter Fertilizer-Vendor to supply seed & straw mat & starter fertilizer-10-10-10 fertilizer
Storm Sewer - Inlet Adjustments 1-6 inches
12 x 12 Garden Inlets - Adjustment
12 x 12 Garden Inlet remove & replacement - limited
The attached summary sheet is compiled on unit pricing per the above scope of work and must be used. The work will be awarded on a Total Cost basis. The City will provide topsoil, aggregate, and all storm sewer materials. The City will be responsible for watering all restorations. The City of Darien reserves the right to reduce, eliminate, or increase the specified material and/or quantity. The pricing shall be held in place from May 1, 2027 through April 30, 2028. Additionally, the City will also be entertaining 2 optional extensions: May 1, 2028 through April 30, 2029 and May 1, 2029 through April 30, 2030. The projects will be completed on a city block length at various locations throughout the year. Quotes will be accepted until November 12, 2026, until the hour of 9:30 a.m.
Quotes may be emailed to rkokkinis@darienil.gov followed by an original copy delivered to the City of Darien at 1702 Plainfield Road and clearly marked as Ditch Maintenance Restoration, ATTN: Municipal Services.
Prevailing wage rates apply. Certified payroll shall be submitted with payout request.
Any and all requests or addendums shall be made in writing to the attention of Director of Municipal Services via dgombac@darienil.gov. All requests will be responded to within 48 hours to all bidders on file.
