The City of Darien is soliciting for competitive bids for Rear Yard Drainage Projects for the period of May 1, 2027 through April 30, 2028. The program is a cost share program with the residents and the City of Darien.
The awarded vendor shall have the ability to determine grades for storm water flow and have the knowledge of the following:
Grading will consist of approximately no more than a 1.5-foot cut with 4 to 1 side slopes
Installation of various underdrains 4-12 inch
Fine grading
Installation of a 10-10-10 fertilizer
Sod and/or turf seed, fertilizer and straw mat
On occasion an hourly rate may be required to removal, small timbers, decorative rock, and small plantings. Fence panel removal may also be required whereas the main line posts may be left in place, provided they are not in conflict with the project.
The City will provide the following services and material for all projects:
Tree Removal – Topsoil - Fence install - Pipe and inlets - Stone
All generated spoils will be removed by the vendor and disposed of at the Public Works Facility. The attached proposed material summary sheet lists the materials and range of quantities based on a vendor submitted unit price. The City of Darien reserves the right to reduce, eliminate, or increase the specified material and/or quantity. The pricing shall be held in place from May 1, 2027 through April 30, 2028. The City will also be entertaining two optional extensions: May 1, 2028 through April 30, 2029 and May 1, 2029 through April 30, 2030. Quotes will be accepted until November 12, 2026 until the hour of 9:15 a.m. The projects will be various through the year and will be required to be completed within two weeks of initial assignment. Should the vendor not perform as scheduled, the City shall have the ability to terminate the agreement within 24 hours. The City shall review the bids, and pending unit costs, may award said bid up to 3 vendors.
Quotes will be accepted until November 12, 2026, until the hour of 9:15 a.m. Quotes may be emailed to rkokkinis@darienil.gov followed by an original copy delivered to the City of Darien at 1702 Plainfield Road and clearly marked as Rear Yard Drainage Projects, ATTN: Municipal Services. Prevailing wage rates apply. Certified payroll shall be submitted with payout request.

Please note topsoil shall be supplied by the City of Darien. Any and all requests or addendums shall be made in writing to the attention of Director of Municipal Services via email to dgombac@darienil.gov. All requests will be responded to within 48 hours to all bidders on file.
