At our May 18 City Council Meeting we recognized five students from Hinsdale South High School who are participants in the Zebralter Medical Scholarship Program. The program was started by Dr. Lota Ojiako as a way of exposing children of color to careers in one of the STEM career areas. Three of these students received a $1,000 scholarship as a result of their winning a competition several weeks ago. Also pictured are Mayor Joseph Marchese, who was a judge for the competition, and Ms. Tracy McDonald, the coordinator of the program at Hinsdale South and a teacher of Chemistry and Anatomy and Physiology.
