As part of the celebration of our country's 250th anniversary, the City of Darien decided to honor past and present military service members of the Darien community with photo banners of the veterans and their branch of service. These banners are currently on display throughout the city of various street light poles and will remain on display through Veterans Day.
When Modell Funeral Home (in Darien) discovered the plan, they decided to generously cover the cost. On Thursday, April 30th, 2026, the owners of the Modell Funeral Home presented Mayor Joseph Marchese with a check in the amount of $3,325.00.
